Panasonic KX-NT680 Training Guide

Get the most from the Panasonic KX-NT680 colour display phone. This guide covers everything from basic calls to Bluetooth headset pairing and programmable keys.

About the Panasonic KX-NT680

The Panasonic KX-NT680 is a premium IP desk phone featuring a large colour touchscreen-style display, up to 48 programmable keys across multiple pages, Bluetooth headset support and a built-in Gigabit Ethernet switch.

It's the go-to phone for power users, receptionists and managers who need quick access to a large number of contacts and features. This guide covers the most common tasks your team will need day-to-day.

Training Topics

Making & Receiving Calls

  1. Lift the handset or press the Speaker button to get a dial tone.
  2. Dial the extension number or external number (prefix 0 for an outside line).
  3. To answer, lift the handset or press the flashing line key.
  4. The colour display shows caller ID, call duration and line status.

Navigating the Colour Display

  1. Use the navigation (arrow) keys to move through menus.
  2. The four soft keys below the display correspond to the on-screen labels.
  3. Press the Home key to return to the idle screen at any time.
  4. Swipe through pages of programmable keys using the Page keys.

Programmable Keys

  1. The KX-NT680 supports up to 48 programmable keys across multiple pages.
  2. Keys can be set as DSS/BLF (speed dial with busy lamp), line keys or feature keys.
  3. Press and hold a programmable key for 3 seconds to enter self-labelling mode.
  4. Contact your system administrator to add or change key assignments.

Transferring a Call

  1. While on a call, press the Transfer soft key.
  2. Dial the extension or external number.
  3. Announce the call, then press Transfer again or hang up to complete.
  4. For a blind (unannounced) transfer, hang up immediately after dialling.

Bluetooth Headset Pairing

  1. Press Menu > Settings > Bluetooth to open the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Put your headset into pairing mode (refer to the headset manual).
  3. Select Scan on the phone — your headset should appear in the list.
  4. Select the headset and press Pair. Enter the PIN (usually 0000) if prompted.

Voicemail

  1. Press the Message button (envelope icon) when the red indicator is lit.
  2. Follow the audio prompts to listen to, save or delete messages.
  3. Press 3 from the main voicemail menu to record or change your greeting.
  4. The colour display shows the number of unheard messages on the idle screen.

Directory & Call Logs

  1. Press the Directory soft key to search the internal company directory.
  2. Press the History key to view recent calls — incoming, outgoing and missed.
  3. Highlight a number from history and press Call to redial.
  4. Press Save from history to add a number to your personal directory.

Do Not Disturb & Call Forward

  1. Press the DND soft key or navigate to Menu > Features > DND to activate.
  2. For call forwarding, go to Menu > Features > Call Forward.
  3. Choose Always, On Busy or No Answer, then enter the destination number.
  4. Active DND and forward status are shown as icons on the colour display.

Quick Reference Tips

Redial Press the Redial button or select a number from Call History to redial.
Mute Press the Mute button during a call to silence your microphone. Press again to unmute.
Volume Use the Volume Up/Down keys to adjust handset, headset, ringer or speaker volume.
Status Icons The colour display shows DND, forward, Bluetooth and message waiting icons on the idle screen.
Headset Mode Press the Headset button to route audio to a wired or Bluetooth headset.
Conference Press Conference, dial the third party, then press Conference again to join all parties.
